Tuesday Time Management: Why Focus on Time
Time is the 2nd most valuable currency in existence. With it, you can acquire any other kind of wealth you desire.
However, there are no refunds and no exchanges. Once you’ve spent your time, you cannot get it back.
You will either live with the regrets of having spent time poorly,
or you will reap the benefits of having spent it wisely.
The Purpose of Time Management
Time management’s purpose is the same as it is with
financial management: watching what gets spent and where so that you’re making
the most of everything you get and are making steady progress toward achieving your
desired goals and outcomes with what you’ve been given.
By taking control of your time, you begin to take control over your life and
start making conscious decisions about where you want to be in the next 5, 10,
15, or 25 years. Little decisions today add up to big changes tomorrow.
Why Project FED Teaches Time Management
You may be wondering what time management and Project FED
have to do with one another. It’s a great question. There are three reasons:
1. Avoiding Volunteer Overwhelm
Volunteers for any project are people with big hearts but
busy lives. They say yes to a lot of things and can feel guilty saying no to
anything, even when their plates are already overloaded with projects. That
results in burnout, dropout, and a decrease in productivity. I never want
supporting Project FED to be something that increases the burdens on the people
who are willing to invest their time helping others.
2. Helping Our Affiliates Succeed
Most of the people who are going to make money sharing
Project FED’s products are likely to be either stay-at-home mothers with children
to watch and supervise or they are already employed and are looking for a way
to bring in extra money on the side. Either way, their lives are busy and they may
need helping to find the hours they will need to make their efforts pay off for
them. I want to be sure I help them clear out as many obstacles between them
and success as I can, and that begins by helping them get control over their
time.
3. Providing Useful Information to Prospects and Customers
As I mentioned during Monday’s post, the best way to attract
the people you want to reach is to provide information to them that is useful
to them and will help them make the most out of their life or achieve their
goals. Since time is a universal currency and most of the people I’ve met in
life struggle to make the most of it, offering time management strategies is a
smart way to bring the people I am trying to reach straight to my door.
Next Week’s Time Management Tuesday: Making the Most of Our Time
Now that I’ve explained the purpose of our Tuesday focus on
Time, next week I’ll begin sharing the strategies that I’ve learned to help me
make the most out of the time that I have in this life so that you can benefit
from it.
Some of this can be
found in my book The Write Time: How to find all the time you need to write abook. However, some of it will be new content that isn’t in that book.
